What this role is about:
RapidSOS is revolutionizing emergency response by seamlessly connecting life-saving data from connected devices, apps, and sensors directly to 911, empowering first responders with critical real-time information to save lives faster and more effectively.

We are seeking an enthusiastic AI Senior Software Engineer with a focus on building high quality software to join our team. You will develop AI-driven solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of emergency call centers. Your work will directly impact call takers and other stakeholders in the Emergency response domain, making their jobs easier through the infusion of AI and data. What you’ll do:

• Develop with AI: Build quality software. Identify best sources of intelligence for our applications, design for robustness and continuous improvement.
• Leverage data: RapidSOS has vast datasets of emergency calls and payloads from digital sensors to identify patterns and insights that can improve response times and outcomes. Fuse internal and external data (e.g. hurricane forecast) to provide optimal decision support to call takers.
• Work across the stack: Leverage AI to build components outside your comfort zone.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including other software developers, data engineers, and emergency response professionals, to integrate AI solutions seamlessly into the RapidSOS platform.
• Innovation: Stay updated on the latest AI advancements and assess their applicability to our mission of enhancing public safety.

What we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:

• Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong programming skills in Python. Experience with leveraging modern LLMs. Production experience with LLMs, including debugging, performance management, continuous improvement. Proven experience in delivering projects end to end in collaboration with stakeholders. Ability to adapt and tackle a wide range of challenges, even in unfamiliar tech stacks.
• Ability to tackle multimodal data: We have structured/unstructured data, audio, video modalities all being produced in real-time.
• Familiarity with data warehouses: DataBricks preferred but we’re happy to bring a great candidate up to speed!
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Self-starter with a proactive & creative approach to problem-solving and a strong sense of ownership.
• Travel & On-call: Ability and willingness to travel for internal team gatherings a few days per quarter. Ability and willingness to be on-call on a weekly rotational basis.
